When you think of waterparks, you expect them to close earlier than your normal theme, right? Well, Walt Disney World has decided to step up their Incredible Summer event to help you keep the vacation party going after a day in the parks! This separately ticketed, Pixar-themed kiddo-friendly evening event is hosted by Rex the “Dinosaur of Ceremonies” to help take your normal waterpark experience to a glowing good time. Here’s the scoop on all things Disney H2O Glow Nights at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon!
Disney H2O Glow Nights at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon
Rex and his Toy Story pals are throwing a party of prehistoric proportions, inspired by the Disney-Pixar Toy Story short film “Partysaurus Rex.” With glowing beach balls, fun inner tubes and other lighting effects, Disney H2O Glow Nights is a rare opportunity for guests to experience Typhoon Lagoon under the moonlight. We arrived at 7 PM to get situated and plan our attack. Buzz Lightyear did a great top of lighting the place up and the DJ-hosted dance party on the sandy beaches of the Surf Pool got us in the mood for a rockin’ good time quickly.
We loved the shorter wait times and sometimes no wait at all on Typhoon Lagoon’s most popular waterslides, including Crush ‘n’ Gusher, Humunga Kowabunga and Miss Adventure Falls. In the lazy river, you’ll find fun floating inner tubes like penguins, ducks, dragons, eagles, and even a clear glowing one! I thin kit’s a great addition that makes the lazy river a fun experience. Also good to note, if you had little ones, Typhoon Lagoon does have small flat bottom tubes floating in the river at all times so even the small kiddos can enjoy a little relaxing downtime.
Many of the popular food shacks are open during Disney H2O Glow Nights with some special offerings available during the event as well. You can bring your own small (non-rolling) cooler in if you’d prefer because of dietary needs.
Disney H2O Glow Nights is not just for kids either, “The Wharf” is a special area for adult partygoers, featuring entertainment and a bar with refreshing libations available for purchase.
Meet & Greets
Guests have the chance to meet Woody and Jessie during the event! Unfortunately, no other characters are out and about but I think that’s fine since you aren’t there to meet with lots of characters that you could possibly see during the day at other WDW parks. Have fun, and get your pictures in when you can.
Disney H2O Glow Nights Tickets & Dates
Disney H2O Glow Nights are held every Thursday and Saturday night from June 21 to Aug. 11, 2018 for 16 nights of an electrifying good time. A limited number of tickets will be sold for these events so get a spot while you still can. While the party officially runs from 8 PM to 11 PM, guests with an event ticket can start arriving at 7 PM for even more waterpark pre-party fun.
June: 21, 23, 28, 30
July: 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28
August: 2, 4, 9, 11
Prices for Disney H2O Glow Nights tickets (including tax) are $58.58 for adults and $53.25 for children ages 3-9 (children under 3 are free). Yes, the price per hour is double that of the regular day rate but you’re getting an experience like you’ve never had before. Plus, because only a limited number of tickets are sold, the park isn’t as packed and getting on rides is faster, meet & greet lines are shorter, and even a finding lounge chair is easier.
Is It Worth It?
An astounding yes! With everything I mentioned above, I’d definitely save the extra $10+ (regular Typhoon Lagoon prices are $69+ w/tax) and spend my night at the park for Disney H2O Glow Nights instead. If your kids can handle staying up late (it is the summer after all), I’d go for it. Fewer crowds and let’s be honest it’s not as hot out so it’s a great way to have fun. If you weren’t planning on going to a Disney waterpark before, I suggest changing your plans because who knows if Disney will make this an annual event.
