The Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center has kicked off the holiday season this past Friday, November 18 with Christmas at Gaylord Palms, an annual celebration including ICE!, a walk-through attraction displaying two million pounds of ice, hand-carved to create iconic scenes – this year the theme is “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by Charles Schulz, all inside a frosty 9-degree environment!
Look, I get it. It’s Florida. You either didn’t pack for freezing weather or you live here and don’t need warm clothes. I specifically buy winter clothes on clearance for my family before going to ICE! since I know we’ll probably never need to wear them again. Layer up! All guests are provided with a calf-length, hooded parka type jacket (they run in sizes infant-4LX) to help keep them warm but don’t think that will do the trick. Get yourself a long sleeve shirt, jeans, and your own jacket/sweater to wear under the parka too.
Your fingers will get cold fast! For my husband and I, taking off our gloves to take a picture became a pain in the butt so I invested in some good touchscreen gloves. I’m so glad too because you can take as many pictures inside as you want!
Returning this year:
And of course, the adult-only bar, On the Blocks will be making its return inside of the ICE! attraction. Adults can enjoy three beverage samplings: The Jolly Mint specialty drink featuring Jackson Morgan Southern Cream and Hangar One Vodka; a Goose Island Beer; plus a Merry Margarita featuring Milagro Tequila.
