WowWee has jumped into the holiday market with a bang this year by releasing two of the hottest toys on your kid’s wish list! My kids were so excited to check out Toys ”R” Us and get our hands on not one but BOTH of the toys. With the help of Duracell batteries we were ready to power up CHiP and COJI for hours of fun, imagination, and yes, even learning!
The way I played as a kid and the way my kids play are two totally different things. I’m so jealous of the way things have changed over the years. STEM is a huge part of my eldest’s life so she was especially excited to play with COJI. This coding robot isn’t just tiny and cute, he teaches your kids too! COJI teaches kids the basics of programming using a language they already know: Emojis! Your child won’t even realize that the skill-testing games they are playing are also encouraging critical thinking. Even early readers and pre-readers will have fun with COJI because they are simply stringing together smiley faces and other emojis using the app to solve problems and control COJI’s actions. The longer they play and grow with the games, the better they’ll get at programming then, in turn, do more with COJI. You don’t even need the app to play but it’s definitely more fun if you download the free app on your smart device.
To power COJI on you’ll need 3 AAA batteries. Duracell batteries are the #1 Trusted Brand by parents, powering long-lasting imaginative play so save yourself a headache and go that route.
I love that there isn’t a “wrong way” to play with COJI. Through trial and error kids will begin to understand the basic understanding of what they must do next. While they’re learning, COJI is having fun with them so they never feel like they made a mistake in any of the coding. It speaks their language and my daughter loves that.
We already have a dog (and 2 cats and a bearded dragon) so even though my family has been bedding for another one, I can’t bring myself to allow that to happen. My house is FULL and I could not imagine adding another pet to the mix but then I learned about CHiP. I knew he would fit into our techy house perfectly and so far he’s been nothing but the best pet I’ve ever had.
CHiP is an intelligent and friendly robot puppy who can do just about anything you want a pet to do. With his advanced sensors and smart accessories, CHiP is always alert, and ready to play. He reminds me of a robot pet I had when I was a tween but robots have come a long way since then. CHiP is unique to your family so his behavior adapts by how you respond to him and treat him! I think that’s so cool!
Connect to CHiP via Bluetooth and you’re ready to rock and roll. As you can see in the video, CHiP is responsive and super fun! He hears when you call him, obeys your commands, and loves to have fun. In the app settings you can change the voice command call so if your kids want to change his name, it’s possible. So instead of saying “Hey CHiP” (CHiP comes programmed to respond to), we say “Hey Bella” and SHE barks!
Take CHiP out of his packaging and you’re ready to play, no set-up required! CHiP is self-charging and will go to his SmartBed when he is in need of a charge but you’ll need some more Duracell batteries for CHiP’s SmartBall but that’s about it. The SmartBall doesn’t bounce and kids will need to take care to nicely ROLL the ball, not throw. CHiP does have an app that you can download if you’d like. We went that route because there are so many things you can learn to do with CHiP through the app. When you download his app you can also feed him fun things like a metal chicken drumstick, screws, and tools!
There are so many things you can do to get a response out of CHiP like touch his nose, pick him up, push him, pat his head, pet him, and more! It all starts with a simple “Hey CHiP” and the fun never has to end. As I mentioned you can feed CHiP within the app. The app will give you indicators that show CHiP’s level of hunger, happiness, and his battery life. CHiP will also send you a message in the app to let you know if he’d like to play or eat. I did overfeed him once and he started to growl at me. It was really funny.
One thing I noticed is that without the app you cannot feed CHiP, at least we haven’t found a way to do so. Having the app is not a requirement but to get the FULL CHiP experience I definitely recommend it. It’s free and was easy to find just by typing in “CHiP” in the AppleStore.
In the box with CHiP, you also get a SmartBand. Kids can wear the band and give commands that way. The SmartBand also has a sensor in it so if he is told to do so, CHiP will follow your child around. CHiP cannot go up or down stairs though so keep the fun on one level and away from the stairs or CHiP can get hurt.
After giving CHiP a command you can press the ‘thumbs up’ button to let CHiP know he did a good job. This will help with his programming. The SmartBand is something you’ll want to wear when you are playing fetch with CHiP and his SmartBall. CHiP will bring the SmartBall back to whoever is wearing the SmartBand. The four commands on the band definitely make it easier for younger kids to grasp and understand. My 2-year-old has even started to understand which button he should press and when.
Duracell, TRU, and WowWee are partnering to power imagination and I could not think of a better combination than those 3 brands! It’s super convenient to run into our favorite toy store and grab Duracell batteries while we’re there also. Only batteries I trust in my kid’s toys, that’s for sure.
If you want to watch your children’s imagination soar, I highly recommend these two toys from WowWee. My 1st grader and 6th grader are both loving every bit of both of them. I love that they aren’t asking me to play on the computer or simply watch the iPad. YouTube has some fun shows to pass the time but I’d much rather have my kids get something out of technology like they do from CHiP and COJI.
You can purchase WowWee CHiP and WowWee COJI, along with Duracell batteries from Toys “R” Us to power up imagination this holiday season.
