No Bake Cinnamon-Honey Oat Squares

September 13, 2016 By Double Duty Mommy

No Bake Cinnamon-Honey Oat Squares. Gooey, creamy, and sweetness bring a healthy-ish snack to your table.

Happy National Honey Month! No really, September is National Honey Month and I’m here to celebrate with you. Buzz and Bloom Honey got in contact with my people (and by “my people”, I mean me. I don’t have people) and asked me to share one of my favorite honey recipes with you in celebration of this sweet month and in partnership with Mom It Forward Blogger Network. So today we’re making 3-Ingredient NO BAKE Cinnamon-Honey Oat Squares. I always whip these bars up for the girls to take to school and with a big house move in the works, I was due for something to keep me going. Now yes, let’s just stop right here and admit that these bars are not on the “healthiest things on the planet” list but I think they’re pretty dang good and have some amazing qualities like protein, fiber, plus sweet delicious honey that comes with its own benefits.

These bars are so ridiculously easy to make, my 6-year-old can do it and not mess them up. Half of it never makes it into the pan to harden, though. The jury is still out on what exactly happened to the other half of the recipe (hint: we all know she ate it while “baking” it).

The best part besides the no baking part (it’s Florida… I avoid turning on my oven at all costs), is this recipe is just 3 ingredients! That’s it. THREE!

So do some Rachel Ray moves and grab a bowl, wooden spoon, rolled oats, peanut butter and most importantly, your cinnamon honey!

Don’t grab any ol’ honey though – you need (okay not need but let’s be honest, it does make all the difference in the world and you will thank me later) Buzz + Bloom Cinnamon Spreadable Honey. We don’t want over heated, over processed, and over filtered honey in here. All that does is strip honey of its natural pollens and nutrients. That’s not good! Buzz + Bloom Honey believes that real honey has natural pollen in it. That’s why they gently strain their honey, plus, they also package it a lower temperature than most supermarket honeys to help maintain the beneficial enzymes and antioxidants that help make honey a true superfood. If you’re going make delicious food you need delicious ingredients.

We usually plop a spoonful of honey onto our morning English muffins or waffles, and sometimes even apple slices! That’s what I love about honey: you can use it as a simple sweetener or it can be the star of the show. There’s no wrong way with honey. But let’s continue making our amazing recipe, shall we?

In a small saucepan, like this one, heat the Buzz + Bloom Cinnamon Spreadable Honey and peanut butter on medium low heat. When it’s completely melty and smooth remove from heat and transfer to a heat-safe bowl. Add your oats and stir to combine. Oh yeah, that’s it, folks!

Lightly spray a 9×9 pan, like this one, with cooking oil, then evenly press your mixture into the pan. Get this baby to the fridge to set up, about an hour or so. Cut then serve. It’s best to keep the bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator when they won’t be eaten right away. They get a little pliable when they aren’t cold. But hey, if that’s your thing and you want a little gooey mess… by all means, have at it!
