As a new parent or even one who’s been around the block a time or two, I think one thing never changes – we want to know our kids are safe. Sports: they get protective gear, bike riding: helmet and pads, and in the car; car seats. Another thing that can make your car ride safer is having a GPS device instead of using the map on your cell phone.
I have a 2007 mini van and it does not have a GPS built-in. I drive a lot and sometimes that does require me to use my phone’s map app. It can be scary though because I constantly have to look down at my phone to see where the turns are or how many miles I have left in my travels, and if I accidentally drop my phone… I have to pull over and search for it. I knew I needed a GPS system and I was so excited to partner with Garmin on an ambassador program.
Having a Personal Navigation Device allows you to have better driver safety and awareness. With your Garmin always in your line of sight and built-in alerts like school zones, speed changes, sharp curves in the road, and so much more, It can help keep you and your passengers alert and aware while driving. And just like your bestfriend, Garmin Real Directions™ guides you using landmarks and traffic lights.
The Garmin Drive 50 is super easy-to-use, will be your dedicated GPS navigator with 5.0-inch dual-orientation display. It’s preloaded with detailed maps of the U.S. or U.S. and Canada (depending on the model selected)!
Another way I keep my kids safe in the car, as I said before, is practicing good car seat safety. I have 3 kids and they are all in car seats. My 11-year-old is in a high back booster, my 5-year-old is in a 5-point-harness and my 2-year-old is still rear facing. My passenger can have good eyes on the girls because they are forward facing but having eyes on my son, who is rear facing can be a challenge. Garmin just released the Garmin babyCam™ and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ll be doing an inside and out review on it and will be posting it in the next couple of weeks.
I know I am excited to use my GarminDrive 50 and Garmin babyCam in the coming weeks so stay tuned!
