The Good Dinosaur kindly entered theaters in 3D on November 25th! The story of two unlikely pals embarking on a journey of a lifetime comes at a perfect time of year, reminding us how a little compassion and consideration can go a long way.
Disclosure: I was invited to a special movie preview before the release date. No monetary compensation was received in exchange for my review. All opinions are mine unless noted otherwise.
We are welcomed into a world where 35 million years ago the dinosaurs weren’t destroyed by a meteor, in fact just a few million years later they had become somewhat civilized and self-sufficient. Arlo is the youngest and smallest of three and is determined to “make his mark” in a family of fruitful harvesters. In a story that feels somewhat familiar at first, young Arlo is faced with a tragedy and ends up a little too far from home. Just when Arlo thinks his trek back to his family will be long, lonesome and nearly impossible, he meets a small human who he names Spot. Spot and Arlo are unable to communicate through language, however, the ultimate understanding between the two is heartfelt and relevant for all audiences.
The expedition is anything but easy for the pair; from their run-ins with a group of unpleasant raptors to a friendly family of t-rex’s, Spot and Arlo are taught some important lessons on personal strength, fear and friendship along the way.
The Good Dinosaur is a simple yet moving tale and will certainly stir emotions in everyone who sees it! The aesthetics of the film are impressive and certainly wow worthy. Whether you’re 2 or 92 this Disney•Pixar film will spark something in you and leave you feeling thoughtful and warm inside!
