As a parent, studies have shown that we spend between $500-$1,100 per child per year on toys. I know that my husband and I sorta go crazy in the toy department, sometimes even getting them a little toy every time we’re in the store. I guess our thought process is, “It’s only a couple of dollars. It’s okay.” but those couple of dollars definitely add up and then on top of that throw in birthdays and Christmas too, the numbers really start to become large.
When I think about the holidays coming up and the amount of money we’ll be spending on 3 kids, I get sick to my stomach. I love my kids but every year it’s the same thing. More money spent, more toys lost, broken, or forgotten about in the bottom of the toy box. Did you know out of the toys you buy your children only 5% will get used? Why do we go through the same motions? Because we love them and want to see them happy, right? But what if there was an easier (and cheaper) way to get that smile on their face?
Don’t believe me? Just look at this popular LEGO Star Wars Tie Fighter Building Kit. That price is black and white – $142.95! ONE HUNDRED and FORTY TWO! What the heck?! Unless you are a collector and glue the toy together (KrA-GLE!!), I personally, don’t see why you’d spend that much money on a toy that is going to get built then destroyed in a matter of minutes. And again, your son or daughter will probably only play with it a couple of times then move on to the next toy. But Pley has the Tie Fighter Building Kit for you to borrow, play with, then send back for about $8!
Once your account is set up there is a couple of pages of easy set up to go through like questions about your kids age and building skill level so you will have a customized Pley experience.
As you see, some of the toys are highlighted. That’s because we clicked the star in the left corner. This sorta puts the toy in your queue for your next delivery. Pley will always confirm before sending a toy, but this makes the process a little easier if you already have toys selected that your child would like to play with.
Ben is obsessed with trains so we went with the LEGO duplo My First Number Train (normally $19.99). He loved playing with it and it was perfect to help teach him his numbers at the same time. If I thought he really loved it and couldn’t live without it, I could have gone into my account and purchased the set for a reduced price (all sales are final) which is really cool.
