For the first time in a long time I am extremely proud to be a part of a campaign. This isn’t just some regular product review, this post is about a topic I am passionate about and hits home more than me just using a certain brand.
Growing up, I’ve always hated my hair. I still do. It’s thick, has no shape, frizzy. Growing up my hair was wavy but I would always straighten it or let it air dry which just made my waves look more like a messy. To this day, I complain about it and have no idea how to manage it.
I’m not alone though. Did you know that only 4 out of 10 girls with curls think their hair is beautiful? And only 10% of the women in the US with curly hair feel proud of it? That’s why Dove launched the Love Your Curls campaign – they want women to celebrate their curls and to encourage future generations to do the same!
My first daughter was born and she had straight hair. I rejoiced! I thought how gorgeous her hair was. How jealous I was that her hair was so perfect. Then my second daughter was born. She didn’t have any hair until after she was a year old. When it started coming in I started freaking out. It was curly. What?! Curly hair?! NO! Not waves like me. CURLS! Tight tight ringlet curls. But guess what. I was jealous of her hair too. It was amazing. The only problem is I had no idea how to take care of it.
Thankfully, through all the troubles of the past 5 years, Kendall absolutely adores her curls. We remind her every day that they are amazing. Despite the tangles and the fights and tears she loves them and I never want her to forget that love.
Dove Hair’s NEW Love Your Curls book is a poetic tribute to curly hair. Dove Hair was inspired by the thousands of stories from women with curly hair. The real stories from real women inspired the poems in the book. It is intended to represent and inspire curly girls of all ages. The part that touches my heart the most is that girls are more likely to feel beautiful and proud of their hair if people around them do. That means me. I need to be more of an inspiration to BOTH my daughters so they feel great about their hair, curly or straight, full or thin.
Helping me learn how to take care of Kendall’s hair is new Dove Hair Quench Absolute products – a line designed specifically for the 1 in 3 women that have curly hair, to give them 4x more defined, natural curls, and leave them feeling nourished. The shampoo and conditioner work together to gently cleanse the hair while leaving it revived and strengthen from the core. The Intensive Restoration Mask creates ultimate smoothness and hydration. And the Supreme Cream Serum can be used on either wet or dry hair and is fast absorbing.
If you are or know someone in your life that has curly hair, download [and share] the book to inspire them. You can create a personalized e-book with a custom dedication and illustration for a curly girl in your life.
