As parents, we should give our children the freedom to create their own solutions to problems – they will often surprise you with their ingenuity. I know when I was kid I had to figure it out so my goal is to definitely let go of the “correct way” and just let me kids… be kids.
I recently received a box in the mail (shhh containing Christmas presents) and half of the box was filled with packing peanuts. Now usually I would just throw everything away but for the sake of saving the planet and all I decided to look up some craft projects.
Craft time normally sounds like this: No that goes there. Don’t do that. Okay put this here. Carefully, put this here so it’s straight! and so on and so on. I know, it doesn’t sound like too much fun but I am so OCD that I need everything perfect and in it’s correct place.
-mini foam wreaths
-mini black pom poms
-orange card stock
-black card stock
-packing peanuts (about 20 per wreath)
Tell me, do you think you need to let go of the reins a bit on your kids, like me? How could you empower your kids to cultivate their problem solving skills?
