With school starting back up in just a few days I have been shopping and stocking up on items to make my girls healthy lunches. Due to my own recent health and digestive problems we have been eating a lot healthier and I plan on keeping to that trend but if my girls eat at school that would be a totally different way of eating and I don’t want that. Instead of sugary juice boxes I have also been trying to find drinks that give them the variety they want.
I’ve heard a lot about coconut water and I have friends who swear by it but we never tried them before. Recently, I found out about Vita Coco. They also have options for kids with their Vita Coco Kids flavored coconut water! The water is both nutritious and delicious! Low on sugar and calories, big on flavor with choices like Very Cherry Beach, Paradise Punch, and Apple Island!
Since we’re always on the go, I usually pull into a drive-thru to grab us something to drink. Of course, that’s not even close to healthy and easy on the wallet so I’ve began bringing them each a few Vita Coco Kids drinks depending on how long we’ll be out and about. They are easy and the new sturdy spill-proof pouch makes it easy for me to trust them in the back without being scared I’ll find my 4-year-old covered in water when it’s time to get out of the car.
Since each drink is free of artificial colors, sweeteners, flavors and preservatives so I feel great about giving it to them and the bonus is that they love it. To mix things up I’ve come up with a smoothie recipe to make. One of our favorite recipes to make with Vita Coco Kids is what I like to call Coconuty Cherry Beach Smoothie.
- 2-6oz Vita Coco Kids Very Cherry Beach coconut water
- 2 bananas
- 2 mangos
- 1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Fill ice trays with the coconut water and freeze until solid.
- Place the fruit, honey and 12 to 14 coconut water-flavored ice cubes into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
