After 32 hours in labor on Sunday and Monday (March 30th-31st) I went home being stuck at 5cm and 50% effaced. Since I was just 37 weeks and 4 days my hospital wouldn’t help me along. I was perfectly fine with that but the contractions were too much to deal with. They gave me some medication to stop the contractions and I was sent home. The next day (Tuesday April 1st) the contractions started again but not nearly as painful or consistent so I just dealt with them. Wednesday I had my weekly doctor appointment but I still hadn’t had any cervical change.
This past Wednesday I had my 39 week appointment which I came in feeling strong contractions again. I was still 5cm but now 75-80% effaced. My doctor suggested I go get monitored for 2 hours to see if the contractions were doing anything. They weren’t but I was DONE so we scheduled me to be induced at 5am on Thursday.
By 9am I was 10cm 100%. My body was ready, Baby was ready. Problem? Baby was “sunny side up”. For the next two hours we had my lying on either side, pushing, rocking back and forth. Anything to help him flip over to face down. Eventually, he made it to his side. My doctor kept telling me to push at every contraction and eventually he was close enough that she was able to gently turn him the rest of the way down.

It’s been an amazing 3 days. We almost instantly got a great latch and he’s a nursing pro! It’s been a little hard for me since he’s the first of the 3 to actually latch and nurse but we’re getting through the letdown pain and loving the time together.
