Have you ever found the perfect outfit, pair of shoes, accessory when you just weren’t looking? Unfortunately, this week I was looking, so the opposite happened. I knew exactly what I wanted, I just couldn’t find it. Bummer!
This week’s challenge was Sport Chic.
Week #3: Sport Chic: Work out your fall fashion by adding active elements to everyday sportswear with adorable pieces found at an incredible value at Kohl’s and Kohls.com. Varsity-inspired tees, sweatshirts, and the baseball jacket help capture a sporty chic look while staying layered and comfortable all season.
I had every intention of donning my school colors. Unfortunately, I was shocked to discover that my Kohl’s doesn’t carry Gator gear — boo! I found tons of cute UCF tops and even some adorable sweatpants, but nada in orange and blue. (Note, I found tons of cute options online. But by the time I realized my local Kohl’s didn’t carry it, it was too late for this week’s challenge.)
Without the ability to fall back on orange and blue, I had to get creative with my sporty self. And I am not really a sporty girl. I really thought the True Blue challenge would be the hardest, but Sporty Chic proved otherwise.
Then I saw inspiration — in the form of a Minnie Mouse baseball tee. We visit Disney a lot, and my daughter insists that she wears a Disney-themed outfit each visit. And she regularly asks me to do the same, but for as much as I love Disney I didn’t own a Disney shirt, until now.
Of course, when one visits Disney parks the key is to be comfy so sport chic is kind of perfect for a day at the parks. So when I spotted this vintage inspired raglan tee I knew it was perfect for the challenge and a day at Disney. Well, a day at Disney in the winter — can’t wear 3/4 sleeves during a Florida summer.
In my initial thoughts about the challenge, I did mention wanting a new hat and that I found. I love this slouchy cadet hat by Sonoma. Perfect for a not-so-perfect hair day (like I was having in this picture – can’t tell, can you?). I debated a similar black one, but I decided this one would go with everything. Plus I love the jersey slouch.
I went back and forth between yoga pants and jeans, but for Disney I am all about the jeans. Plus when I tried on these Lauren Conrad jeans that was that. Super comfy with a perfect slim fit. For real, these jeans make me happy.
Finally, I paired the whole look with a Fila sport jacket that is the perfect weight for Florida. Plus it is super soft.
So what did my daughter think of my Sport Chic Minnie Mouse look. “Mommy, I love it!”
Well, that’s good enough for me.
Ready for my total cost?
- Minnie Shirt – $14.99
- Jeans – $29.99
- Hat – $9.99
- Jacket – $34.99
I didn’t have any coupons with me, but I did use my $10 in Kohl’s cash from last week to buy my annual Christmas picture frame.
(BTW – I am so not used to it getting dark so early now…)
Next week I will be back with a new fashion challenge from Kohl’s – Monday I will share the trend challenge and Friday the results. For a totally different Kohl’s look, check out the results of the first week’s new classics challenge.
Hi, I am Jen. No, not the same Jennifer you normally hear from, I am Jen from The Suburban Mom, and for the next month I will be bringing you fashion tips and trends and show how you can incorporate them into your fall wardrobe with styles from Kohl’s.
