The problem with being a work at home mom is that I tend not to eat full meals most days but instead I’ll find myself snacking throughout the day. I try to find healthier snacks and actually I have been eating a lot of raw veggies lately (mushrooms, mini carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, sugar snap peas, and green beans) but I still crave the snacks my body is wants (like chips).
When I was asked to review the new Green Giant™ Roasted Veggie Tortilla Chip – Garden Ranch and Green Giant Multigrain Sweet Potato Chip – Barbecue, I thought, “Of course!” why not combine my new love for veggies with chips?
The Veggie Tortilla Chips have whole grain corn, red and green peppers, broccoli, tomatoes and carrots. Plus, there is only 130 in one serving with 18 grams of whole grain and 0 trans fat.
I was most hesitant about the The Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips. I’m not a fan of sweet potatoes but my favorite flavor is BBQ so I was hoping the big flavor in the chip would mask the sweet potato flavor. Must to my surprise they totally taste like any BBQ chip with an added extra sweetness from the sweet potato. The Sweet Potato Chips have 120 calories per serving, 14 grams whole grain and 0 trans fat.
While checking out Green Giant’s Facebook page I was noticed some great snacking recipes so I thought I’d use the chips in my own recipe – for dinner!
I smashed up the Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips and coated them on chicken instead of bread crumbs to make BBQ Chip Crusted Chicken! Using the Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips was a huge hit and no one knew that I used them so they were getting a taste of real sweet potatoes with dinner too.
