Buying or changing your washing machine can be challenging. With so many on the market, knowing which one to choose can be confusing. There are machines that offer eco washes, fast spins, dyeing; there are futuristic models that decide the best wash for you and of course some that simply wash your clothes. It is enough choice to give any busy family a headache. In reality, the washing machine that will be best for you will come down to how you will be using it.

To help you out, here are some top tips to make sure you get the right washing machine for your family’s needs.

Top Loading Machines vs. Front Loading

One of the first things to consider is how your washing machine will work within the space in your home. If you are going to be placing it underneath a countertop, then you will need a front loading washing machine, but if you have the room and do regular washes a top loader may be better for you.

Top loading machines are by far easier to load washing into, so if you know that your family requires regular large washes, then this is a great advantage. The issue with top loading machines is that they are by far the least economical format. They require more water, so you would want to go for a eco-friendly version.

Front loading machines are not great for your back, but they do have the advantage of generally being far more economically built and eco-friendly. This Beko washing machine from K&Co is a great example. It offers plenty of room for clothing and has a number of programs for washing – from delicates to colors.

Drum capacity

Your new washing machine will need to be able to handle a certain amount of clothing and as a busy mother, wife or woman in general you will have an idea of how many washes are needed a week. This is where drum capacity becomes integral as this will determine the speed and lifecycle of your new washing machine. In general, a family of 2 adult and 2 children can get by with a machine that has an 8 kilogram (17.6 pound) drum, but as with everything in life it may not be that black and white.

You may have a larger or smaller family, which will affect the amount of washing you have. If your children play sports after school you will have multiple gym clothing and then there is all of those work shirts. Washing machines with larger drums will end up being less energy efficient, so you will need to take into account how often they will be used. To make sure you get the right drum size, visit a company that supplies many machines. K&Co for example, can help you compare the features.

Everything may come down to price

Prices for washing machines can range anywhere from $450 to $4000. As there is such a dramatic price difference, those of us with lower budgets may have to sacrifice some features. Don’t despair though, as a general rule washing machines come with a variety of wash settings across the board – fast wash, cool wash, delicates and hot wash. This is enough for basic needs, but if you do have a large amount of soiled washing then you may want to consider some of the more expensive machines. As a bonus, the mid to high range machines come with economic washes to save you further money and the environment = perfect.

I am agree with the above statements that prices play major role for selection but it also depends on needs and space you have . Always choose the product which is energy efficient and certified . It gives you better long lasting performance .

We just replaced our washing machine about 6 month ago so I could have used this guide then. I guess washers don’t last forever so I’ll keep this info in mind for next time, or next time someone asks for advice.

Price was a big part of our decision making too. Finding a washing machine that fit into my price range was a bit tricky but I managed to find one in a deal that was going on in my local store which was a bonus!
