Teaching your kids good oral health is important from the moment they are born. I’m glad my kids love brushing their teeth and we’ve established a good routine so they know when to brush their teeth and for how long. I do, however, find my oldest brushing too quickly sometimes or that she stays in one spot and misses other places in her mouth.
Welcome a fresh and compelling new concept in children’s toothpaste. New Firefly Fluoride Foam Toothpaste features a special delivery system and a foamy, whipped cream-like texture that breaks new ground in the category.
Unlike traditional toothpaste kids can squirt this toothpaste directly in their mouth, not onto the brush, practically eliminating messy toothpaste all over the bathroom counter and sink. The foamy toothpaste targets hard to reach places and is especially recommended for braces.
To further banish boring brushing Firefly came our with the new Firefly Ready Go Brush toothbrush. From pre-school kids are taught using green, red, and yellow (traffic light colors) to learn basic math concepts, counting, shapes, colors, safety principles, and in my daughter’s school – behavior rewards (green you were great for the day, yellow needed to work on being better, red you weren’t a good student that day). Now these colors can also teach your child how long they should brush their teeth for.
The toothbrush times kids to make sure they brush for the dentist-recommended 60 seconds per row of teeth.
- 30 seconds for green
- 30 seconds for yellow or “almost done”
- Then red to stop.
Kids then repeat the process to brush the other row of teeth. The toothbrush also has a suction cup at the bottom so it will hold it firmly upright like a traffic light, keeping the bristles clean, dry and out of contact with nasty germs.
Makenna thinks the toothpaste and toothbrush is really fun. She always asks if she can brush her teeth even if all she ate were a couple of crackers. I hope her great oral hygiene skills continue on because at the rate she’s going she’ll never have a cavity if I have anything to do with it. So far, so good!
