Car I want even if I won the lottery? The Kia Sorento. I am absolutely, 100% of me in love with this vehicle. The one thing I would add is a automatic back lift gate (hint hint Kia!) but aside from that, the 2013 Sorento was pretty perfect.
DESIGN
Exceptional materials and sleek design features make the 2013 Kia Sorento have one up on the competition. Even though the MSRP is relatively low (about $23,000) the Sorento gives a look of a much higher pricier vehicle. Even the plastics in the Sorento are tough and sleek; they look anything but cheap and can take a beating from kids.
INTERIOR
The 2013 Kia Sorento is available in four trims: base, LX, EX and SX. If you stick with the base model, you’ll get features like cruise control, air conditioning, full power accessories, a trip computer, 17-inch alloy wheels, a CD sound system with satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity and an iPod adapter. I think that’s pretty awesome for just a base model, don’t you? And with room for 7 passengers the Sorento is fit for any family.
ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE
2013 Kia Sorento come standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. It produces 175 horsepower and 169 pound-feet of torque with the basic version. You get a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive (all-wheel drive is available on LX and EX models).
Front-wheel drive models have fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the freeway and 24 mpg combined.
FINAL THOUGHTS
As I said, this is my favorite car from Kia, by far. The ride is smooth, it has great user-friendly features, and great fuel economy. I have 5’3″ and the Sorento wasn’t too big for me and my husband being 6’2″ it wasn’t too small for him. We both fit well into the driver and passenger seats. The girls were comfortable in the backseat with room to spare.
Worth the purchase? I would definitely say so. I can’t wait to test out the 2014 Sorento and see what Kia has improved on.
