Can Halloween Be About Something Other Than Candy?

That is the question and that is what I am hoping for when it comes to my girls. This year, Charles and I have decided that we aren’t taking the girls out to go Trick-or-Treating. I know! We’re horrible parents aren’t we?

See, the thing is, is that the girls already have so much candy thanks to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Legoland, and SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular.

I told Makenna that we won’t be taking them out and she says, “But kids don’t even come by our house so there’s no one to give candy to.” My response, “How would you know? We’re never here on Halloween!” My daughter (and we’re teaching Kendall) already knows the importance of sharing and we are using Halloween as another learning tool. All that extra candy we have that in all honesty will never be eaten is going to be shared and given to the kids that come to our door tomorrow. It’s not a total loss as Makenna can still wear her costume and we’re not giving away all the candy she collected at the theme parks.

I just want my kids to know that we are very blessed and we have so much candy that why not give some back to those kids who aren’t as lucky as we are, who couldn’t go to the theme parks to collect candy like we do.

Another way I wanted to give back this month was find someone in need and sharing a Kleenex® Brand Care Pack with them.

My best friend is pregnant and she has been having a really hard first trimester so I knew she would be perfect to send a care package to. With morning sickness, a 14 month old, and the cold I hoped this little box of goodies would put a smile on her face.

Makenna loved the idea since she ‘loves her Auntie so much and wants her to feel better’ *heart melts*
