It’s back to school time, wait, scratch that, if you ask my husband it’s FOOTBALL TIME! For my house that means a lot of screaming (sometimes, smelly) guys taking over the living room for a solid 3 hours. That’s a lot of man time.
Personally, I don’t get it. I’ll watch a game with my husband (Go NY Giants!) but getting into the game – screaming, cursing, cheering loud, it’s weird to me.
To involve myself in the game day crazies I create a full on football menu for the guys. Keeps them busy and out of my hair for a while is my goal
As I showed you before this house loves King’s Hawaiian bread and recently I discovered that they have a couple new products out – Mini Sub sandwich rolls, and Sweet Hot Dog buns!
Recently, my husband had his friends over and before their destroy the house visit I decided to use the King’s Hawaiian Sweet Hot Dog buns and spice up my usual game day menu of burgers, sweet treats, chips and salsa.
Don’t let the name fool you though, there is nothing really “sweet” about this recipe except the deliciously sweet King’s Hawaiian bread.
Sweet Chili Cheese Game Day Dogs
Gather your ingredients. Don’t forget the mayo even if it’s not in my picture. As you can see I so cleverly photoshopped it in though
Smother the heck out of the buns with mayo, relish (sweet or dill – whatever you like best), and any type of mustard you like. I’m not a huge mustard fan but give me some Ken’s Honey Mustard and I’m all over it!
Then goes in your uncooked hot dog. Don’t worry, they cook in the oven.
Next top your dog with chili. I’m lazy… and I can’t cook my own chili so I used canned chili. Do what you please
Diced onions and of course lots of cheese are up next.
Cover with foil. Bake at 350* for 30-35 minutes!
Voila! I made the kids’ dogs without chili and they loved them either way so you don’t have to add chili of course but for “grown men” they love layers upon layers of food.
Warning: You will need a knife and fork for this one. It gets messy!

These look good and I am not much of a hotdog fan. This is something my dad and the guys I work with would really enjoy. The King’s Hawaiian bread looks really good, I’ve never had it but may have to try it. Thanks for the post.
