My husband and I are thinking about taking a trip down to Miami soon. Just to take the girls to the beach and have a fun day out of town. Of course we wanted to do it before school started but then a little thing called Tropical Storm Issac happened and that delayed our plans.
So I found a lot of great things to do and I hope I can get a discount entry to Jungle Island because that place looks so fun!
Jungle Island is open 365 days a year. Special shows and events at this popular Miami attraction may extend Jungle Island’s hours. Upon arrival, ask the Ticket Booth or Guest Relations for any special event or show information. Jungle Island hours are subject to change without notice. Severe inclement weather may affect Jungle Island’s hours.
Kendall is obsessed with birds so it’s the perfect place for her to go nuts and talk to the birdies all day.
The only issue is that school has started now :/ I think driving down almost 3 hours for a day trip would be a bit much.
Have you ever just taken a trip that far away and came back the same day?

I went to Jungle Island years ago!!
We have taken a day trip with just hubby and I that far away but haven’t done it with kiddos yet. The mountains are about a 3 hour drive from where we live and we would go for the day to go hiking or biking but it just seems like a bit too much for little ones.
My long trips we usually will at least spend the night. Sounds like a great time. Part of my family is in Sarasota, I’m wondering if they’ve gone here with the kids.
First of all thanks to share your personal experience with us and that’s makes me happy and hats off to your work scheduled. I wonder that how you can handle all these things combine including your blog updates, your vacation plans and children’s care. It’s really amazing dear. To talk about Jungle Island I think I heard it before from my friends and I curiously wanted to go there. Actually I and my friends had decided to go there but I couldn’t manage it because of my busy scheduled. If I’m not wrong this zoological park located in Florida right? And one thing I want to tell you honestly your management makes me inspired and I’ve finally decided to go there for sure. Thanks
looks like fun!!
we did take the day trips like that before to save money on hotels
Last year we did 4 1/2 hrs away from Vegas to Arizona (without kids), stayed overnight, left early for a football game, stayed the entire day, and then did the drive all the way home in the dark. NEVER again! Next time I would stay the extra night to not have to battle roads in the dark, especially while exhausted.
Have fun for me!
Have fun. I am actually getting a weekend without the kids. This weekend. I have no idea what we are going to do, though.
I have!
I have, but not with kids. I prob wouldn’t now.
We make 2-3 hours trips (so 4-6 hours total) all of the time. We would never do anything if we didn’t, because we live in a small town and there’s nothing nearby.
If the total travel time is 3 hours then now but if it’s 6 hours, I would say yes.
When my grandparents were still living in Palm Beach we used to make the three hour trip down there for the day a few times a year. We would get there around lunch time, hang out all afternoon, and then drive back after dinner, usually getting home between 11 and 12. It made for a lot of driving in one day, but it wasn’t completely pointless as we definitely got at least 7 or 8 hours of time there with them without having to stay at a hotel. I will say, though, that I haven’t made the trip with kids, so I’m not sure how well that would work.
Looks like a fun place to vacay!
