Learning Math is Fun with GoSum!
It’s hard to believe but math can actually be fun but after downloading this fun new app called GoSum even Makenna wants to “play the number game” all the time.
Little does my 7-year-old know that she’s actually learning and doing math so it’s been a great Summer activity for her.
Aaptek Ltd has come up with a great game app for the iPhone and iPad in the Apple Store which is perfect for all of us left brained individuals out there.
Like Words With Friends GoSum is made on a Scrabble-type board but instead of trying to spell words on the game board, the goal of GoSum is to create valid arithmetic equations like 28 x 5 – 6 = 134. GoSum is fun, challenging, and educational all wrapped in one pretty bow app
Now for the rules, there are always rules. You start with a blank board full of open spaces in a 17 x 17 layout. There are double and triple number (DN or TN) blocks, as well as double and triple score (DS or TS) blocks.
With this game you can either play on one device and pass the device back and forth or you can play up to 2 people online by connecting to Facebook or choosing the “random” option which is really fun. Since there is no language involved anyone can play and you don’t have to worry about playing a game with someone over seas that doesn’t speak English.
GoSum for the iPhone is available for download on the iTunes App Store for $0.99 or GoSum HD for the iPad is available for download on the iTunes App Store for $2.99. Players can also play the free version of the app with GoSum Free, available on the iTunes App Store.
Disclosure: I downloaded the iPhone app on my own. Compensation was received for my time. All opinions are my own.

This is like my ultimate nightmare of a game since I am horrid with numbers. However, my husband is the opposite and would love GoSum!

My husband is a math wiz, and luckily my son has taken more after him. But this looks fun, and could help me improve/brush up on my math skills so I can help my son when my hubby is busy.

It appears my daughter is the only one in the family that leans towards reading/writing while the rest of us are math minded LOL. Thanks for the heads up on the app.

my daughter is 7 and plays it. There are parts where it does get hard but she likes the challenge.
