Oxygen will premiere a new show called I’m Having Their Baby on July 23rd.
I’m Having Their Baby is a deep and emotional six-part docu-series that reveals the story that often goes untold – that of young, pregnant women as they struggle to go through with the most difficult decision of their lives, whether or not to place their babies for adoption. These would-be moms want a brighter future for their unborn child as well as better life for themselves, but face a mountain of inner turmoil as they search for potential adoptive parents as well as make their birth and transfer plans.
I was curious if any of you have had to deal with a difficult decision like or has someone in your life?
I had my first daughter when I was 20 and for a split second the decision to either keep her or not went through my head. I can’t imagine my life without her but these women make that decision.
The premiere episode features Amanda, a 28-year-old mother raising two boys, as well as her boyfriend’s son, in Chehalis, WA. This mom knows how much work goes into parenting, and given her current economic situation, feels she cannot properly support another child. Mariah, 8-months pregnant, is also profiled in the first episode. She lives with her boyfriend and 9-month-old daughter in Anderson, IN. As the 18-year-old mom of an infant, Mariah knows she cannot afford another child and doesn’t want to turn out like many other girls in her community: a young, struggling, single mother.

This show is wonderful. With so many sensational reality shows, it’s so great to learn about one that is heartfelt and explores some of the real emotion at the heart of this important issue. I used to work for Oxygen (before motherhood!), and am very happy to see the direction they are taking with this series.
I think that this is a very difficult position to be in and couldn’t imagine being in it myself.
I thought this was an interesting show! I have my DVR set! I could never imagine the strength it would take to make that choice for my child.
I can’t imagine being in their shoes… so difficult.
I wanted to adopt a baby after having two miscarriages in a row but my husband was and still is against it…. he wanted to have a child of his own. No matter what I did to try and convince him that it was a good idea he wouldn’t budge.
I have to cousins who have been adopted in to our family. I can’t imagine our family being complete without them.
hoping to watch this tonight-looks wonderful
It hurts my heart when I hear people say they want babies naturally or babies that are “their own blood.” Oh, they are missing out on something equally as special when it occurs in a non-traditional way.
i think this would be a sad movie-sometimes it needs to be done and others are glad b/c they cant babies of their own-but its sill hard

Sounds like a great idea for a show. I’m excited to watch it.
I love the concept of this show. I’ve really enjoyed hearing other’s stories about adoption and I think this show will serve as a great source of support for those going through the process (whether it’s by choice as a surrogate or a mom choosing adoption b/c she feels that’s what’s right for her). Look forward to seeing it!
Hmm wish I had a DVR! Maybe I’lll watch.

Hopefully this sheds light on adoption and not exploit children and vulnerable moms
SO=ounds like this will be an interesting show.
I think it’s a great way to shed some new light on adoption. I am not sure if I will watch it or not but I would like to try to see if helps the “why don’t they just adopt?” comment. I have friends who struggled with infertility for a decade only to hear that constantly. They would have loved to. But that never happened.
I’m intrigued by the show and the selflessness of giving your child up for adoption. How incredibly hard it must be for mothers in that situation.
I don’t know anyone who has gone through an adoption but it seems like a tough decision to make!
I think this will be a great show. It will show the benefits of adoption. Adoptions in the past were more stressful and unorganized. Adoptions of today are so different. I love that they are open adoptions. I mean what child doesn’t need more love?! With their adoptive parents and knowledge and love of the birth mom it is a better world.
I will definitely watch. Love babies!
Adoption isn’t an option I’ve ever truly considered but I think I’ll watch it out of curiosity.
I think that if the mother can’t (for some reason) take care of the baby, and is able to let another set of parents give the child a life that she couldn’t, and her heart is in it, then it is a huge gift that she is able to give. So many couples are not able to have children of their own, and making their dreams come true is a huge thing.
I think the show will be interesting. I’d like to see adoption stories from all sides involved.
I am very interested in watching this show. I have never given up a child for adoption but I am currently thinking about adopting a little girl. These women are extremely strong, I cant imagine bringing a life into this world only to give that child to someone else. I definitely am NOT strong enough to do that.
My sister who is unable to have children-adopted 2 special needs children
As a mom of two, I instantly bonded with my kids the minute I found out I was pregnant. I can only imagine how difficult it is to give up your child..sounds like an interesting show.
I don’t have this channel but sounds like a great show I would enjoy watching!
This sounds like a interesting show and I think I am going to watch it.
I will definitely be watching this show.
a good friend of mine has turner syndrome, she also did not have alot of money. when she got married she started to talk openly about the sadness of not having the ability to have a child. a co worker came up to her and asked her to adopt his girlfriends baby once he was born. she jumped at the chance, when all the paperwork came through and the son was born he quickly became part of her new family, with very little money involved and no waiting, he looks just like her too. it was a miracle!
wow, that’s an incredible story Christine.
I’m so glad everything is well for them and she has an amazing child in her life.
I am excited to see the stories of how Mothers decide to give up their children
I noticed someone commented that the show is taking advantage of the women. I don’t think so. If it’s done well, the show will highlight the joys and struggles the natural moms and the adoptive families go through. Someone might see the show and become more comfortable with the idea of adoption themselves. I can’t wait to watch it.
Exactly. And I believe that’s what Oxygen is trying to do with this show. Hopefully no one will be exploited in any way, and it will just showcase this incredibly hard journey in their lives.
I think adoption is great. I know lots of people who have adopted. This looks like a very interesting show!
I could see this being a high-drama show. We don’t have cable, so I won’t be watching, but I’m sure there will be plenty of others who will be intrigued enough to watch! I know it takes a lot to be able to admit you can’t/shouldn’t parent your child and give them up for adoption.
I may watch the premiere, but I am not a fan of reality tv. I think this show would probably benefit people interest in adoption or surrogacy
I think giving up your own baby will be the hardest decision in your life.
Sounds like a very interesting show it gives people an insight of what birth mothers really go through thanks!
This show looks SO interesting. Especially since we are adopting. I’ve been seeing posts on it all over the place and it’s cool to think it will show the other side of all of this.
I’ll definitely check out this show. Sounds really unique and this is such a cool perspective on parenting. Thanks for sharing!
the show looks very interesting
My two older brothers were adopted by my moms parents, so she could go into the army. Unfortunately both brothers have no contact with my mom, and have treated her awful
She has done alot for them, and I cant imagine how she must have felt
I think this show is going to be very interesting watching each person struggle with their personal choices
well i love teen mom so i would check this one out for sure.. love all shows with these shows with topics like this
I think it can serve as a great learning tool for people going through similar situations
I plan to watch the show. I find it really interesting that some of the moms considering adoption already have children. For good or bad, they can actually appreciate all that goes with being a parent.
