I have an addiction. It’s true. I even joined an AA group to admit my problem. the only issue with the AA (AppleCheeks Annoymous in a private Facebook group) is that it doesn’t help you, the mamas in the group just enable you more. It’s a win-win, lose-lose battle you see. But. This addiction I don’t want to stop.

I have used cloth diapers for going on 2 years now and after a lot of trial and error both my husband and I have settled and decided on a brand that is very dear to my heart. AppleCheeks cloth diapers have been seen on DDM in the past so I am so excited to bring them to you once again.

If you know and love AppleCheeks then congrats on making a great decision. If you haven’t ever tried AppleCheeks let me tell you some things that I love about this brand and the support you will always get when you purchase these diapers.

Applecheeks are a two size pocket diaper system. Pocket diapers have an opening in the fleece for you to “stuff” the absorbent insert into. The great thing about AppleCheeks diapers is that you can also use them as a hybrid/ AI2 (All-in-two) meaning you can just lay the insert on top of the fleece lining on the cover (not inside the pocket opening!!) so when you baby pees you just have to change out the insert. You can do this up to 3 times before changing out the cover. Use your best judgement when it comes to using any diaper as an hybrid/AI2 style. If you leave your child in the cloth diaper for a long period the fleece lining will get wet and you will have to change out the entire diaper.

Size 1 covers can fit your baby from about 7lbs – 20 lbs. Size 2 fits 18lbs – 40lbs. I should mention that your baby might grow out of size 1′s pretty fast but once she starts moving around and losing all that baby fat she’ll be right back into size 1′s perfectly. Kendall is about 30 lbs, 21 months old, and she can fit into size 1s (the rise is getting a bit too low though) with room to spare.

AppleCheeks also have super stretchy elastic on both leg openings, and the front and back of the diaper to contain the messiest of blowouts. We’ve never in the 2 years of use had a blowout when an AppleCheeks diaper was on Kendall.

Let’s talk inserts now. AppleCheeks has 2 ply inserts and 3 ply bamboo inserts but more recently they’ve introduced a microfiber / microterry insert. The bamboo inserts can be folded in thirds so you will get 6 layers of super thirsty bamboo absorbency which means zero leaks! We use one 2ply insert during the day but for overnight use we use two 2ply inserts. If you have a super heavy wetter the 3ply is the way to go for sure. The Micoterry insert is a double-sided insert. Top side is soft terry cloth that should safe up when you are using the diaper as an AI2. If you choose to use as a pocket diaper you should flip the insert and use the microfiber side facing up. For added security the microfiber side has bright red stitching so you know that you should not place that side against baby’s skin. Placing microfiber against baby’s skin can pull all the moisture away from their bottom which will cause horrible rashes :( no good!

Daddy will have no excuse not to use AppleCheeks because as you can see the pocket opening is HUGE. Also, notice how the opening is in the middle of the diaper, not the top or bottom? Ilana and Amy (the mama’s behind the brand) are geniuses for putting the opening there. When it’s time for a diaper change you put the diaper in the washing machine and the insert will agitate out of the pocket opening all by itself! Yep! These diapers are that easy to use and wash!
